“Othering: Everything Then is Now – Alter Peckham.”
This exhibition takes place at a rare architectural treasure — the Old Waiting Room at Peckham Rye Station, a grand Victorian space built in 1865. Once known for its vast, high-ceilinged design, the waiting room was closed more than a century ago and has remained hidden from the public eye for over 50 years. By reactivating this forgotten landmark through contemporary art, SPIRA9 transforms it into a nomadic cultural domain, exploring urgent themes of identity, space, and belonging in the context of today’s shifting global narratives.
The exhibition will be a key highlight of the London Design Festival’s South London programming, drawing an influential audience of artists, curators, collectors, gallerists, designers, cultural leaders, and creative investors from across the UK and beyond.
